This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which ones CalcMonde (https://calcmonde.com) uses, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device through your browser. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit — like whether you've seen a notice before, or, for analytics cookies, that a return visit belongs to the same browser as an earlier one. Cookies cannot access other files on your device and cannot run programs.

The cookie notice on this site

When you first visit CalcMonde, a small banner appears letting you know that cookies are used. Dismissing the banner, with either button, simply hides it for that visit — it does not itself set a cookie or change what runs on the page.

Cookies we use

We keep this list short on purpose, because our own cookie use is genuinely short:

**Google Analytics (third-party)**
Purpose: understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the site — which pages and calculators are viewed, roughly how long visits last, and general location and device information. This helps us decide what to build and fix next.
Set by: Google, via the Google Analytics (GA4) script loaded on every page.
Typical cookies: names beginning with `_ga` (for example `_ga`, `_ga_<container-id>`). Google's own documentation is the authoritative source for exact names and durations, since Google can update these; as a general rule, GA4 cookies persist for up to 2 years unless cleared sooner.
Data goes to: Google, as part of providing the Analytics service. See Google's Privacy Policy for how they handle it.

Outside of Google Analytics, CalcMonde does not set advertising, tracking, or third-party marketing cookies, and the calculators themselves set no cookies at all — every calculation happens locally in your browser.

Cookies vs. other browser storage

Some parts of the site may use your browser's local storage (for example, to remember a display preference on your device). Local storage is not sent back to our server the way a cookie is, and is not used here for tracking or analytics — Google Analytics handles that role, via cookies, as described above.

How to control cookies

You have several ways to manage or block cookies:

- **Browser settings**: every modern browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies, including blocking third-party cookies specifically, in its privacy or security settings.
- **Google's opt-out tool**: Google provides a browser add-on (the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on) that prevents Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing visit data with Google, on any site you visit.
- **Private/incognito browsing**: using a private browsing window means cookies set during that session are cleared once you close it.

Blocking cookies will not stop the calculators from working — they run entirely in your browser regardless of cookie settings. It will only reduce the usage data we're able to see in aggregate.

Changes to this policy

If the cookies we use change, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.

Retention and consent record

Dismissing the cookie notice is not currently recorded against your visit — no consent-tracking cookie is set, so the notice may reappear on a later visit or in a different browser. Google Analytics cookies persist for the durations noted above unless you clear them yourself or use the opt-out tools listed below. We review this policy whenever our use of Analytics or any future analytics or advertising tool changes.
